My birthday

Today marks my 55th birthday. I am now old enough to apply for an apartment in a senior housing complex, not that I'd want to, because those apartments are far smaller than where I live now, but if I ever wanted to seriously consider a major downsizing, it would be worth a thought since I think those places are subsidized. However, I am not yet retired and have at least a year to go before I do retire, because next year I will have been at my job for 30 years. I could retire now, since I am 55 with over 25 years of service in the public sector, but it's worth it to stay an extra year and increase my pension. So here's to turning 55 and all that it means. I'm proud to have made it this far and still be very much here among the land of the living! Hooray for me!
