I don't understand how people in the lower and middle classes keep voting against their own economic self interests and vote in politicians who want to cut every single thing that would benefit them. They fall prey to the fear mongering that politicians use to convince them that these very things are somehow evil and that they should do away with them. The latest thing that the right has successfully convinced them of is that health care is a luxury that should only be reserved for those with the money to pay for it, meaning only the 1% who can actually afford world class health care. Why someone at or near the bottom rungs of the financial ladder would fall for these kinds of lies I do not know. Why would you want to see your own access to health care disappear or be too hard to afford when you need it the most? It makes NO sense whatsoever. But increasing numbers of people of modest means think that health care is a privilege and a luxury that only a few people should be able to afford. Senseless. With more and more people beginning to believe in this idea, it's not likely that any hope of single payer health care will ever happen, especially since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision made it possible for so much dark money to corrupt the system. I have news for these people: my health is NOT for sale to the highest bidder. But once again, increasing numbers of people think that it's a good idea to put their health for sale to the highest bidder on the market. This is exactly what is wrong with our country, the fact that the right wing has convinced people to sell their health and to consider caring for it to be a luxury reserved for a few wealthy people. How sad. I've been battling a bad shoulder for months and I need more medical treatment for it, but right now, I just can't afford such a luxury. It's too expensive and I cannot afford it. So I suffer in silence and hope that someday, people will wake up and come to their senses that they've been brainwashed by the right wing.
I've been trying very hard to evade relentless telemarketers who call my house sometimes 20 - 30 times per day. The trouble is, it all becomes a game of whack-a-mole because now that DoNotCall.gov has been defunded and has gone out of business, telemarketers have been given a green light to harass people again. So I have to resort to blocking numbers with my calling plan. The trouble is that they only allow customers to block 20 numbers, and once you block a telemarketer and they figure it out, they will call you again using a NEW number and with a different area code as well. So it becomes a game to try to outsmart them. However, they are persistent and relentless and will harass people to death. I have one caller who shows up as "Unavailable 1" on my caller ID who has called me sometimes 6 times a day for YEARS. I can't block them, either, because I have no number to use to do so and they know it. I wish there was something that one could do to permanently block all of these relentless telemarketers who have harassed me for years, but since I only get 20 numbers to block, I'm just going to have to keep deleting and adding numbers to stop these people. But then, they'll be back. They always are. Bastards.
