The Lunatic Right

Every time you think that the right wing can't get any crazier, they prove that they are becoming more collectively insane by the day. The latest examples: 1).the Secretary of State of Kansas has been saying that under President Obama, blacks have not and will never receive any kind of punishment for committing crimes. 2). Dr Ben Carson, world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and Presidential wannabe said that being gay is a choice, and his example is people who enter prison as heterosexuals and come out gay. He later apologized and said that he did not mean what he said. Yeah, good try, Carson. Bzzzzzzt! DING! You've been eliminated, thank you for playing! 3). An Alaska legislator is proposing using wolves to rid the state of homeless people. 4). A California legislator is proposing a bill to round up and execute all gay people. You can't make this stuff up. It's for real. If this party wants to be taken at all seriously, they are going to have to stop saying such stupid and idiotic things, but if they can't shut their yaps and stop saying things that make them sound even stupider than ever, then they are just going to become irrelevant and be consigned to the dust bin of history. As it is, they have been collectively foaming at the mouth over the fact that our country, not once, but twice, elected a black man as its President. They've done everything possible to humiliate, obstruct, obfuscate and destroy him and he's come back and refused to be bowed down to those who would try to destroy him. Recently, our country went to the brink of shut down of the Department of Homeland Security because the insurgent TEA Party radical wing of the Republican party refused to fund that department unless an amendment was attached to undo the President's executive order on immigration reform, because Congress can't function well enough to pass a bill on that issue, so the President did what he had to do and created an executive order to protect millions of good, law abiding, tax paying, school attending immigrants from deportation and the wholesale breaking up of families. Once again, though, Republicans were forced to capitulate and pass a clean bill funding the DHS. Yeah, we live with the daily threat of terrorism and you want to defund the DHS? How stupid is that? Speaker Boehner violated federal law by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress - without White House approval - to spend an entire speech humiliating the President. Naturally, Speaker Boehner will not be prosecuted for his crime, but you can bet your bottom dollar had he been a Democrat, he would have been stripped of his Congressional seat and thrown in prison. Double standards, naturally. Anyway, the looney right gets more outrageously stupid with every passing day and I find it hard to believe that anybody takes them seriously. But they do, and that is the sad part. I despair for my country when influential people and legislators propose bills that sound like they come from a looney bin. I hope that this party does eventually reach a point where people realize how utterly stupid they sound and stops voting for them. My dream is to see them consigned to the dust bin of history as a forgotten party that died of a terminal case of stupidity.
