More health care rantings

I just called the doctor who was supposed to do my colonoscopy and found out that it would cost me $1000 out of my own pocket, so it's off, cancelled. I can't afford it. I'm still paying last year's deductible and I just can't afford to tack on another $1000 to my medical debt.

THIS IS WRONG!

I can't afford any of my prevention screenings - the yearly "female" exam, colonoscopy, etc. All of that is expected to come out of my own pocket. So I go year after year after year without the proper health screenings because I can't afford to pay for them. Meaning everyone else where I work is in the same boat, so none of us can afford to have our yearly screenings to make early detection of possible life endangering health problems available to us, unless some of them are on spousal health care plans that are more affordable.

I'm sure that this angers doctors, too, to have patients tell them that they can't afford life saving procedures because of insurance companies making it impossible for them to afford. This Must Stop Now. Yes, I'm seeing red, because, if there is any abnormality in my colon that can't be caught because I can't afford the damned test, and if there's anything wrong with my "female" parts that I can't afford to have tests on, then I blame the insurance companies who put that stuff out of reach. Hell, I may as well not even have insurance, for what it pays for. Which is increasingly, not much.

When, oh, when, are people going to stand up and say, "ENOUGH!" and demand change NOW? Before it's too late!!!!
