C-c-c-c-old!!!

We've just experienced out first blast of arctic air this season and it takes some getting used to, the idea that temperatures have been in the teens with stiff winds behind it. We had a dusting of snow yesterday - thank goodness we didn't get blanketed with the amount of snow that other places in the Midwest got. I didn't have to drive in it yesterday morning because I've been home sick since Wednesday afternoon with a viral respiratory infection that's got me firmly in its grip. I've pretty much done absolutely nothing but rest for the past few days and in the meantime, my apartment is filthy and cluttered and needs a thorough cleaning, but I don't have the energy right now to tackle such a big job. I haven't even left my apartment at all except to see my doctor yesterday and of course, something like this has to run its course. No magic pill to make it go away. So here I sit, feeling like a total loaf for not having gotten anything accomplished, but not feeling up to getting anything done, either. I'm just holed up in this tiny apartment, waiting out both the weather and this bug until both go away. Of course, it is December, and that does mean that winter is nigh, and with it, colder air, snow and freezing temperatures, so I guess I'd better steel myself for the inevitable. Coats, hats, boots, scarves, gloves....all necessary items for winter survival in NE Ohio. I just hate all the bundling up to go outside. I always laugh at the scene in that now famous movie, "A Christmas Story" when Ralphie's little brother is so bundled up that he can hardly move. Sometimes I feel like that when I have to go out in particularly frigid weather. So I guess I have to accept the fact that, at least where the weather is concerned, winter is here at last, and it's not my favorite season. It can snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and after that, it can just go away until next year, as far as I am concerned.
