Starting Christmas Eve, my dingy little bathroom will get a major upgrade and facelift. (This photo, by the way, is not my current bathroom, nor is it what it will look like when it is done - it's just a photo I pulled off of Google images.) I don't have any idea what it will look like, but it will include a new vanity, new toilet and new floor. My good old iron bathtub is staying, as per my wishes, because my landlord wanted to rip it out and replace it with a shower stall, but I love taking long hot baths and I truly dislike small claustrophobic shower stalls anyway. I'm really looking forward to this all being done, but it's going to be slightly disruptive because it will take about a week before the work is done, during which time I will have to move back home with my mom. I'm so used to having my own life and doing things my own way at my own time that it's going to be weird having to live at home for a week until this construction is all done. I wish I could get a new kitchen, too, but that's asking too much. The only reason that the bathroom is getting done is the recent discovery of the floor under the toilet being rotted out. Rather than take up the toilet and repair the floor, my landlord decided just to redo the entire bathroom, which will be really nice. I may celebrate by buying some new towels and floor mats. It might be nice to have some fresh decor to go with the new fixtures. I know my landlord and the entire bathroom will be white - if he had his way, my entire apartment would be white, in fact. I'd rather have some other colors and maybe later on, I will paint a bit in the bathroom to give it some variety. But for now, it will be nice to have one room in my dingy apartment redone and looking new. I'll find out if a new kitchen is in the offing for sometime down the road, but I rather doubt it, and it would probably cost me a considerable raise in my rent. I'd rather keep my rent as low as possible since I won't get a raise anytime soon and will, in essence, be living on a fixed income for the foreseeable future. Better to keep the rent down and live with a dingy kitchen than have a new kitchen and unaffordable rent!
