I've long believed that how you treat others determines how you are treated yourself. Basically, this boils down the old "Golden Rule" that your mother doubtless taught you as a kid. It's essentially teaching kids that karma happens, that what goes around, comes around. In other words, if you aren't a nice person, bad things are bound to happen to you that you may not like. This sort of thing can be distilled to its simplest essence by saying that it's more or less the basis of Christianity, but this same idea is found in the idea of Karma: what goes around, comes around is another way of saying that if you do right, good things will come to you and people will treat you well. It's an oversimplification, of course, but you get the idea. Karma happens. You can screw up and nothing may happen to you immediately, but if you continue unrepentingly to do screw up and do bad things, it will catch up to you eventually. Oh, sure, we all make mistakes, but as long as we find a way to fix it and are remorseful for the error of our ways, it's OK. But if you don't, there will eventually come a price to pay. That's just the way things work. You may even say it's the law of attraction. If you attract good things to happen, they will, but if you surround yourself with negative energy, you will attract bad things to happen to you. Again, oversimplification, but it's the idea that counts here. Oh, sure, you can be a perfectly good person to whom lots of bad things happen for no reason that anyone can explain, or you can be someone with lots of ill intentions to whom good things happen, but in the end, karma will catch up to them and will sort everything out in the end. So whatever energies you send out into the universe will return to you and will cause either good or ill to happen to you one way or another. Sometimes it's hard to understand how those energies work or why they sometimes don't seem to correspond with what we're doing, but in the end, it all gets sorted out, I am convinced. Good or ill, whatever you are about as a person will return to you in the form of karmic blessings or revenge. So take care how you live your life, because like it or not, Karma Happens.

I'm currently struggling with this
issue. I sold something online & the
buyer demanded the money back claiming
I had deliberately lied about the item
(which I did not). I gave a refund,
no questions asked, and have had
nothing but trouble since.
I gave the item a glance, then sent
the money back, but after I got to
looking closer, they'd damaged it.
It was basically a case of "I want
to see it, and ruin the value before
I commit to ownership." It must
be nice to buy some one's property,
deliberately damage it, accuse them
of lying, send it back for a refund,
get the refund, then continue to
fuss.
It is a one-of-a-kind, and there is
no way no repair the damage, so the value is gone for good.
Positive feedback means nothing--
you can't trust anyone anymore. Sellers
are really taking a chance these days.
They play the victim, and are prone
to posting numerous comments online
about how great they are. I am so
incredibly angry, but I can't do
anything, except tell myself that
God will take care if it, the Lord
knows. He'll prepare a table before
my enemies...it is not that comforting,
but it is all I have.
